ROGERS, Ark. – The 5k @ the LPGA benefiting Mercy will return as part of #NWAChampionship Week’s schedule of family-friendly events on Saturday, September 25. New to the event this year, the 5k route will now start and finish in Downtown Rogers. Local companies are invited to participate in the Corporate Challenge, competing for the titles of Fittest and Fastest Office in NW Arkansas. In honor of the 15th anniversary of the #NWAChampionship, registration is only $15 for participants who sign up before August 23.
Virtual participation will also be offered for those who would prefer not to attend the in-person race. Proceeds from virtual participation entry fees will also benefit the Mercy Health Foundation Northwest Arkansas.
Tournament and race officials are actively monitoring the current Covid-19 situation with the help of state and local officials and will communicate any updates on the tournament website
(NWAChampionship.com) and via email. Participants will be encouraged to wear face coverings while in the starting corral before the race and again after finishing the race.
In addition to the 5k @ the LPGA, Always Live #LikeAGirl Day will return on Saturday, September 25, to Pinnacle Country Club as part of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G. Hosted in partnership with Procter & Gamble, the celebration invites all young girls, boys, and families from the community to attend the golf tournament on Saturday to honor the talented female athletes of the LPGA Tour. The special day aims to inspire kids of all ages to dream big through exposure and interaction with the role models of the LPGA Tour.
“One of the core missions of Always and P&G is to help build confidence in young girls and empower them to follow their dreams,” said Brian Williams, Vice President, P&G Sam’s Club Team. “Through initiatives such as the Walmart and Always Confidence Courtyard and Always Live #LikeAGirl Day, we are able to provide thousands of children with meaningful experiences and confidence-building activities onsite at the #NWAChampionship.” Young kids in attendance at the tournament on Saturday will receive a scavenger hunt passport upon admission. The scavenger hunt will conclude in the Walmart and Always Confidence Courtyard, where children can participate in confidence-building activities and redeem their passport for a special gift. In addition, LPGA professionals will be encouraged to engage with young fans during the day and will have commemorative items to give away throughout the golf course.
Ticket sales for #NWAChampionship Week events, including the 5k @ the LPGA, as well as volunteer registration are now open. All children 17 years of age and under receive free admission to the tournament on Always Live #LikeAGirl Day and throughout #NWAChampionship Week with a ticketed adult.
