ROGERS, Ark. – The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G returns September 20-26, with an official mobile app, a milestone celebration, and the addition of two Razorback golfers to the tournament field. Tournament tickets are on sale now at www.NWAChampionship.com.
Tournament staff, local and state health officials and the LPGA Tour are working together to ensure the health and safety of all, including LPGA players, staff, volunteers, spectators, and community members. The tournament has increased sanitization measures throughout the course and reduced capacity in all hospitality structures. Additionally, face coverings will be required in all enclosed areas such as shuttle buses and onsite restrooms and encouraged whenever social distancing cannot be achieved. As an additional precaution, all temporary structures onsite at the event will be open-air in 2021.

New in 2021, the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G has released an official tournament mobile app in efforts to enhance the onsite fan experience. The mobile app features daily fan attractions, weather updates, pairings, and the tournament’s schedule of events.
The app is free to download and is available for both iOS and Android in the app store. Search
‘NWAChampionship’ in the iOS App Store and Google Play to find the official tournament mobile app. Fans are encouraged to download the app prior to arrival, which also helps to support the tournament’s sustainability initiatives by reducing printed materials onsite.
COMMUNITY: The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G Celebrates 15 Years
This year, the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G celebrates its 15th anniversary in the Northwest Arkansas community. The tournament got its start in 2007 at Pinnacle Country Club and was founded with the mission of improving the quality of life in Northwest Arkansas. The first year of the event was shortened to just 18 holes due to rain and Stacy Lewis was named the unofficial champion of the inaugural tournament.
While golf is still at the heart of #NWAChampionship Week, the event has grown to encompass so much more. With the region’s most spirited 5k, a three-day culinary experience, family, and kid-friendly events as well as charitable giving and more, the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G offers something for the entire community.
The #NWAChampionship has 57 volunteers from across the country that have volunteered all 15 years. In addition to volunteers, the tournament has three LPGA players that are returning for the 15thconsecutive year to compete for the tournament’s title – Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lang, and Katherine Kirk. Over the last 15 years, the tournament has donated more than $4 million in charitable contributions to local and national organizations.
COMPETITION: The #NWAChampionship Announces 2021 Sponsor Exemptions
Tournament officials announce today that Brooke Matthews, Cory Lopez, and Alexa Pano will join the field of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G as sponsor exemptions. Current members of University of Arkansas women’s golf team, Matthews and Lopez will compete alongside former Razorbacks Stacy Lewis, Gaby Lopez, Maria Fassi, and Alana Uriell in the tournament field of 144.
Brooke Matthews claimed a sponsor exemption by winning the women’s individual title at 2020 Blessings Collegiate Invitational presented by Tyson Foods, an official NCAA event hosted at Blessings Golf Club in Johnson, Arkansas last fall. Additionally, Matthews was the top-ranked member of the Razorback Women’s Golf Team for the 2020-2021 season. The Rogers native also competed in the 2020 Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G as a sponsor exemption, notching a top-50 finish amongst the field of professionals. Matthews has had a decorated amateur career, including selection to the 2021 Curtis Cup team and participation in the 2021 Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Most recently, Matthews shot an NCAA record 25-under to win the 2021 Cougar Classic ahead of the #NWAChampionship next week.
Cory Lopez received a sponsor exemption through the tournament’s Road to the #NWAChampionship program as the top ranked member of the Razorback Women’s Golf Team not already in the tournament field. Lopez was named to the SEC’s All-Freshman Team during the 2020 season, as well as finishing in the top 35 for all 10 events in the 2020-21 season.
Alexa Pano has secured the final sponsor exemption for the 2021 #NWAChampionship. She returns to Northwest Arkansas after competing as a sponsor exemption in the 2020 tournament as well. Pano is a 17-year-old standout junior golfer, with over 60 tournament victories in her young career. Pano competed in her first LPGA Tour event at age 13 and was the youngest player in the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur in 2019. Pano was also featured in the 2013 documentary film, The Short Game.
Through the Road to the #NWAChampionship Program, Razorback golfers Julia Gregg and Kajal Mistry have received invitations to the tournament’s Monday Qualifier, which will be held Monday, September 20 at Pinnacle Country Club. Official tournament play will begin on Friday, September 24 at Pinnacle Country Club.
